A soldier is a person who fights as part of an army.
Soldiers are usually trained to fight and defend in combat, and are often trained for police duties. They may also be trained to use firearms or other weapons, such as grenades, rocket launchers, or artillery.
In most countries soldiers can only be civilians who have signed up for military service when the country is at war.

The job requirements for becoming a soldier are the following:
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Must be mentally and physically fit
- Must have completed 10+2 examination or equivalent
- Must not have any criminal record.
Eligibility in India: A candidate must be an Indian citizen and should not be less than 18 years old. He/she should also fulfill the other requirements mentioned above for the job. The scope of this profession is not limited to one particular place, but it can be carried out anywhere in the world.
